Project Update: Harmonies Wrap Bracelet

When I first started working at beadshop.com, we were based in Janice’s apartment. Besides the home cooked lunches and the luxurious garden patio, one of my favorite things about the home-office environment was seeing Janice’s collection of inspiring jewelry every day. I would constantly be getting inspiration not only holding and examining the jewelry, but from hearing the stories behind it. On my very first day, Janice was wearing a beautiful wrap bracelet that Nicole had made her. We have it up on our site as the Cinnamon Spice Wrap Bracelet. Nicole was there at the time, and told us about how intensive making the bracelet was. This project was made just before the laddering trend really started, so Nicole used suede and actually stitched every row individually. Because she was going to put so much time and effort into this project, she picked some truly gorgeous and unique trade beads to make the effort worthwhile. Since that time I have felt the need to make my own version. Click on to see the whole project.

I had some considerations to make when choosing my design for this new project. While these antique pink beads are gorgeous, I do not wear pink that often so my first choice was to choose some blue beads. Since this is a bracelet that will take a lot of effort, I want to make sure that it is something I can wear with anything. The other thing I wanted from my design is to eliminate the large metal Dent bead that is in the center of the pink sample. I have no plans to wear my bracelet as a choker, and I wanted to remove an element that will be in the same place as my button. With these design considerations in mind, I was ready to gather my materials and start my own version of the project!

Ingredients:

-1 package of Russian Blue trade beads
-1 strand of White Padre Beads
-1 package of Padres of Venice
-1 strand of Silver Heishi
Tools:

-Beading Triangles

    1. Daria,

The Rattail is used for setting up your project on the design board. We go over the steps for this in one of our Quick Tips posts if you would like to see the steps.

  5. I am making a wrap bracelet using the laddering technique. my question is what do I do with the thread that I put through the button while I am making a silk wrap with c-lon thread. I really enjoyed the blog and hope you can help me.

    1. You can just wrap over the thread. It will end up sticking out beneath your silk wrap, and you can start laddering after the silk wrap. We show this technique in our Mosaic Wrap Bracelet video if you want to watch it.

    1. I would recommend at least 3.5-4 yards of Tuff Cord. It's always better to have more, running out on a project like this would not be good!
